Portfolio - Pave flowers in stacked cigar boxes

Wow, two posts in one day! We're off to a great start. Our newest project is the production of a hard cover portfolio book for Latrobe's on Royal. As we gather a selection of photographs over the coming weeks, we'll share of our favorites.

Today's post is a sample centerpiece created for Sentimental Journey 2008, the primary fundraiser for Longue Vue House and Gardens. The Sentimental Journey website does a great job of documenting the history of the event. Check out the
online gallery for pictures of our work at the Patron Reception and the Dinner and Auction.

To capture the theme for "A Night at the Tropicana," we borrowed a design technique popular in jewelry design. Pave style dictates that flowers are designed parallel and at the same, minimal depth. By filling the cigar boxes with paved
flowers, we highlighted their vibrant color and variation in texture without hiding the beautiful container.

These two snapshots side by side clearly also illustrate the design influence of linen. Which do you like better - the white or bright pink?
