Portfolio - Zoo to do 2009

Our portfolio preparation continues. Today we ran across pictures of the famous Zoo To Do elephant. Why NOT have an elephant at a fundraiser for the Zoo! Our elephant was the focal point of the silent auction tent and wowed patrons with his gorgeous flower-covered blanket.
He made a wonderful impression and is still the talk of the town a year later.

Do you want to add a bit of fun, floral fantasy to your next family celebration? We have just the ticket for this Thanksgiving... a Thibodeaux turkey.

He's so cute! Imagine the surprise on your Mom's face when you bring him to dinner. Thibodeaux's turkeys are in short supply, so reserve yours soon.

Portfolio - Pave flowers in stacked cigar boxes

Wow, two posts in one day! We're off to a great start. Our newest project is the production of a hard cover portfolio book for Latrobe's on Royal. As we gather a selection of photographs over the coming weeks, we'll share of our favorites.

Today's post is a sample centerpiece created for Sentimental Journey 2008, the primary fundraiser for Longue Vue House and Gardens. The Sentimental Journey website does a great job of documenting the history of the event. Check out the
online gallery for pictures of our work at the Patron Reception and the Dinner and Auction.

To capture the theme for "A Night at the Tropicana," we borrowed a design technique popular in jewelry design. Pave style dictates that flowers are designed parallel and at the same, minimal depth. By filling the cigar boxes with paved
flowers, we highlighted their vibrant color and variation in texture without hiding the beautiful container.

These two snapshots side by side clearly also illustrate the design influence of linen. Which do you like better - the white or bright pink?

Welcome

Welcome to Thibodeaux's blog! We are a third generation floral design studio located in uptown New Orleans, a block from the corner of Oak and Carrollton. We invite you to stop by and visit our floral boutique the next time you take a ride on the St. Charles streetcar (don't call it a trolley). The designers at Thibodeaux's pride themselves in thinking "outside the box" whether we're creating a beautiful curly willow chuppah, or adding a special touch to the many arrangements that are delivered daily. We are very excited for the opportunity to share our unique projects and insights into the amazing world of flowers.
